The Ohio House of Representatives has approved Substitute House Bill 2, which will allocate $350 million from the Strategic Community Investment Fund for various projects across the state. State Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) announced the passing of the bill, emphasizing its positive impact on Clermont County and the surrounding communities.

"Ohio's future is bright," said Schmidt. "This legislation strengthens, intentionally, Clermont County by investing in public safety and community engagement."

Among the provisions championed by Schmidt are investments that will directly benefit Clermont County. These include $2.5 million to rebuild the Goshen fire station, enhancing public safety and accessibility to first responders. Additionally, $268,125 will be used to construct a splash pad in Union Township, creating a community gathering space for families. Furthermore, $132,000 will be allocated to renovate the Owensville Historical Society Museum, preserving the neighborhood's history.

The bill also includes significant statewide capital investments, such as $600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund, $400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program, $397.6 million for higher education projects, and $250 million for local jail construction across Ohio.

The Strategic Community Investment Fund was established in the state's main operating budget last year and utilizes excess funding from the previous fiscal year. Thanks to conservative fiscal stewardship, the Ohio House was able to allocate this excess funding towards projects that will drive the progress of the state.

These investments will be incorporated into the State Capital Budget bill, a two-year construction budget for capital projects.

The approval of Substitute House Bill 2 highlights the Ohio House of Representatives' commitment to investing in the development and improvement of communities across the state. The allocated funding will have a significant impact on public safety, community engagement, education, and infrastructure.

With these investments, Ohio is taking a proactive approach to building a stronger and more prosperous future.
