Anderson Township announced on Mar. 24 that it is accepting nominations for its annual Great Tree Award, which recognizes trees that contribute to the township’s landscape and natural character. Nominations are open until May 4, 2026.

The award highlights the importance of preserving and celebrating local trees that stand out in their size, health, form, or seasonal interest. Each year, four trees are chosen—one in each category: Shade, Evergreen, Ornamental, and Fall Color.

Residents are encouraged to nominate notable trees within the community. The township said this recognition program aims to honor outstanding examples that enrich Anderson Township’s environment throughout the seasons.

Details about previous winners and instructions for submitting nominations can be found through a link provided by Anderson Township officials. Those interested in participating have until early May to submit their choices for consideration.

By recognizing exceptional trees annually, Anderson Township continues its tradition of promoting appreciation for local natural resources.
