Meadowbrook Care Center was the third biggest nursing home in Hamilton County during the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.
The facility offered 146 beds in total during this period, 49 above the county average for the quarter. An average of 98.1 residents received care there daily.
According to CMS assessments, the center received an overall rating of 1 out of 5, which is below the 3.2 average for Ohio nursing homes.
For the same quarter, The Chateau at Mountain Crest Nursing & Rehab Center had 167 beds, making it the largest in Hamilton County; Chamberlin Healthcare Center followed with 162 beds.
As of the first quarter of 2026, Meadowbrook Care Center reported no fines or penalties.
Hamilton County, Ohio, had a total of 59 for-profit nursing homes during this timeframe.
U.S. Census Bureau data indicates the older adult segment of the population keeps rising, while there is a decline among younger age groups. Between 2020 and 2024, individuals ages 65 and older increased by 13%, whereas the population under 18 decreased by 1.7%. The older adult demographic has expanded significantly in the past 100 years, growing from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.
A study conducted in 2021 found that nearly 50% of people in this age category, or about 28 million individuals, may need long-term services and supports. It also forecasts that more than a third could eventually require care in a nursing home.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
