Wilmington College issued the following announcement on Jan. 10.

Wilmington College will present the annual community Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. Offered virtually due to the pandemic, the program will appear on YouTube and be placed on the College’s social media and website (<www.wilmington.edu>).

Under the theme, “Beloved Community,… Love Thy Neighbor-HOOD,” the program will feature speakers, presentations and music, including WC President Trevor Bates, Hope House Director Katie Terrel,  an array of WC students and staff members, and the Bible Missionary Baptist Church Choir and vocalist Randy Zimmerman.

Also, as part of the service portion of the MLK celebration, the College’s Center for Service and Civic Engagement is hosting a sock and personal item drive. Items will be donated to the Clinton County Homeless Shelter and Sugartree Ministries. On-campus donations will be collected outside of the Office of Diversity + Inclusion in Pyle Center.
