Nestlé Purina PetCare has donated $11,545 to the City of Loveland to enhance the Matt Haverkamp Foundation Dog Park, which is dedicated to all K9s and their handlers who serve Loveland and Greater Cincinnati.

The funds will improve water accessibility for pets by adding a new dog drinking fountain with a bowl, as well as a faucet for filling up individual bowls. This will keep pets hydrated while playing at the nearly two-acre dog park. The Matt Haverkamp Foundation Dog Park is located at the rear of Loveland’s Kiwanis Park (236 Wall Street).

On behalf of Loveland, City Manager David Kennedy and Mayor Kathy Bailey thanked Purina.

“The water source comes at the perfect time as spring approaches, and it is great to be able to partner with a new Clermont County business to bring this addition to our dog park,” said Mayor Bailey in her remarks.

The city expects the drinking fountain to be operational this spring. The water line has been installed and now — thanks to the Purina grant — the city can have the pet drinking fountain installed when the weather warms. Additionally, the city plans to install additional fencing this spring to create a dedicated space for small dogs.

“Purina believes pets and people are better together, and we’re proud to support organizations who are working to harness the positive power of pets,” said Casey Hansen, factory manager at the Purina manufacturing facility slated to begin operating in Williamsburg Township in 2024. “It’s exciting to watch donations improve the lives of pets and people across Clermont County.”

The donation is granted through the Purina Trust Fund, established by Purina founder William H. Danforth to provide critical support to important community causes. In 2023, the company is investing more than $1 million in its communities through several capital and capacity-building grants to support local non-profit organizations.
