The facility provided 167 beds, which was 70 more than the county’s average for the period. An average of 136.1 residents received care there during these months.
The Chateau at Mountain Crest Nursing & Rehab Center held a CMS overall rating of 2 out of 5, falling short of the 3.2 average for nursing homes across Ohio.
Chamberlin Healthcare Center claimed the second spot with 162 beds, while Meadowbrook Care Center was third with a capacity of 146 beds during the first quarter.
As of Q1 2026, The Chateau at Mountain Crest Nursing & Rehab Center had accumulated three fines totaling $174,018 and was subject to six penalties.
Altogether, Hamilton County, Ohio counted 59 for-profit nursing homes.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates reveal the nation’s older adult population is growing, while younger groups are declining. From 2020 to 2024, the count of Americans age 65 and older increased by 13%, compared with a 1.7% drop among those under 18. Over the past century, the country’s older adult population grew substantially, climbing from 4.9 million in 1920 to above 61 million by 2024.
A 2021 study indicates almost half of this age group, around 28 million people, may need long-term services or supports, with projections suggesting over one-third might eventually require nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
