There are plenty of compostable items that can go into the new composting bins.
Compostables that go ‘IN the BINS’ are fruit, vegetables, pasta, beans, coffee grounds, baked goods, eggs and shells, dairy, cooked meat, wood, cardboard, and more! These materials are returned to soil and remain ‘OUT OF THE LANDFILL.’ Signage by the Oak Park bins provide the compostables list.
The compost vendor, GoZero, hauls the City’s compost to a commercial farm twice a month, increasing this service as the program (and our compost) grows.
