The House Transportation Committee has approved House Bill 673, which proposes to name a section of State Route 28 in Clermont County as the CPT Louis John Speidel Memorial Highway. The announcement was made by State Representative Jean Schmidt.

Captain Louis John Speidel, who was born and raised in Milford, lost his life during his service in Vietnam in 1971. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his acts of heroism.

“This highway is a small way to honor and remember Captain Speidel’s legacy of bravery and selflessness, and the ultimate sacrifice he made for us all,” stated Schmidt.

The bill will now proceed to the House floor for further voting.
