The REALTOR Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (RAGC) has announced its support for a new housing initiative proposed by Councilmember Mark Jeffreys. The proposal involves launching a pilot project for modular and manufactured housing on city-owned lots in Cincinnati. This effort aims to address the city's ongoing housing shortage by providing affordable and sustainable living options.

The plan includes two pilot developments, one located downtown and another in a neighborhood outside the urban core. Modular housing, which involves constructing much of the building off-site in a factory setting, is known to reduce costs, shorten construction times, and minimize environmental impact compared to traditional methods. Similar projects have been successfully implemented in cities like Columbus.

A strong local economy relies on a vibrant housing market. Housing development not only creates jobs but also attracts businesses and supports the tax base that funds essential public services. According to RAGC, every 1,000 new housing units can generate millions of dollars in economic impact and create thousands of jobs locally.

RAGC views this motion as a strategic opportunity to address Cincinnati's housing needs while revitalizing underutilized spaces. The organization encourages the City Council to approve this pilot project as an innovative step toward resolving the city's housing crisis.

"RAGC believes this motion is a strategic and forward-thinking opportunity to tackle our city’s housing needs," stated RAGC in their announcement.
