The REALTOR Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (RAGC) and Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati (HFHGC) are partnering again for the "REAL ESTATE COMMUNITY BUILD" event in June 2025. This collaboration aims to address the affordable housing crisis by bringing together real estate professionals, including realtors, lenders, mortgage brokers, and title companies.

The initiative seeks to raise $50,000 to purchase building materials and construct a home for a family in need. The partnership is endorsed by organizations such as the REALTOR Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, The Greater Cincinnati Mortgage Bankers Association, and The Ohio Coalition of Appraisal Professionals.

HFHGC has built nearly 700 homes across the tristate area since 1986. They provide opportunities rather than simply giving away homes. Prospective homeowners must meet specific criteria such as living in substandard conditions or paying rental costs exceeding 30% of their income. HFHGC supports affordability through a 0% interest mortgage and requires at least 200 hours of sweat equity from homebuyers. They also offer financial literacy education to empower homeowners.

Homeownership is linked to improved educational outcomes for youth, better physical and mental health, and increased community engagement. HFHGC also offers aging-in-place and critical home repair programs.

Those interested in supporting this cause can donate or learn more about partnership opportunities online. For inquiries or involvement, contact Deb Brooks at Habitat Board Member, Tracy Dunne at Realtor Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, Doug Barnaclo at Greater Cincinnati Mortgage Bankers Assn., or Cathy Petersman for volunteer shifts.
