The City of Forest Park sadly announces the passing of Police Officer Marty Strong on Tuesday, June 14.
Officer Strong died peacefully at his home after a long and courageous battle with a rare and aggressive Sarcoma cancer. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Officer Strong was 50 years old.
Officer Strong was hired by the City of Forest Park in August of 2004 as a police officer. He attended basic police training at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. During his 18-year career, he served as a patrol officer, motorcycle officer, bike officer, field training officer, property room technician, and officer in charge.
Officer Strong was the recipient of many commendations and accolades during his tenure. In 2012, he was one of several officers who received the C.I.T. award from the National Alliance on Mental Health for his role in saving the life of a suicidal subject in crisis.
Funeral arrangements for Officer Strong are pending.
