October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and you may notice a new color added to our traditional blue and grey. So many of us at the police department and throughout the city have been impacted by breast cancer in different ways, and we all want to bring awareness to it.
This year is particularly important to us as one of our own is fighting an incredible battle right in front of us. Our long-time evidence technician was diagnosed this summer and has been undergoing treatment since then. As a show of support, our officers have made donations in order to grow their facial hair, are wearing bracelets and pins, and purchased T-shirts that they are allowed to wear as part of their uniform. In fact, we made the shirts available to other city employees that wanted to show her that we have her back.
Please, get yourself checked. Encourage those around you to get checked, even if you are not considered at-risk.
