Parents- this is going to be a straightforward post about Internet safety

Parents- this is going to be a straightforward post about Internet safety. If you read and share any post today, please let it be this one:

If your kids have a Roblox account, log into their account and adjust the security settings. You can turn off the chat feature on your child's account. Here is a link to a website that will guide you in doing this:

Next, log in to whatever device your child can use to access the internet. Look in your child's browser history for a website called "Discord" (it may be an application if they are using a cell phone to access it). This is a social network that your child can use to chat with others on private servers.  There are legitimate reasons why adults use this website- Discord requires users to be 13 years of age. There is no age verification process. Open up Google and search "kids on Discord", and decide for yourself if you want to shut down their account.

If you are not familiar with Snapchat, just know that your kids can send a picture to anyone and then it disappears without a trace.

There are new social messaging websites/applications coming out every year, so it is important to be vigilant. Do a Google News search on Roblox, Discord, Snapchat, Instagram, and Tiktok.

We are making this post because child exploitation is REAL, it's HERE, and it is NOT GOING AWAY. Let your child know that it is not safe to share personal information about where they live, where you work, the name of their school, and even how old they are. We do not want any situation to get to the point where we have to attempt to identify the person who took advantage of your child.
