State Representative Jean Schmidt, a Republican from Loveland, has expressed disappointment over the rejection of an amendment to include the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) in Senate Bill 58. In a statement released on December 12, 2024, Schmidt addressed her concerns regarding the legislative decision.

“I’m saddened to see my colleagues vote down adding the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) to Senate Bill 58," Schmidt stated. She emphasized her commitment to advocating for gun rights, declaring, "I will never stop fighting for our second amendment rights and will continue to urge passage of SAPA."

To advance the legislation, Schmidt has taken further action by signing a discharge petition. She is hopeful that her fellow legislators will support this move to propel SAPA forward. "I have signed a discharge petition and hope my colleagues will join me in order to move this important legislation forward," she concluded.
