Tom Canning of Comey & Shepherd was recently honored at the 2024 Circle of Excellence event for achieving 50 consecutive years in the Circle of Excellence. This milestone highlights his long-standing dedication and success in the real estate industry. During the event, Canning shared his journey and expressed gratitude to those who supported him.

"When I was first to receive my 25-year award, I was asked to say a few words. I wasn’t prepared, so I said a few words!" he began.

Canning reflected on his humble beginnings, stating, "I became licensed in 1971 with nothing but hard work, determination, and the support of my family and friends." He recounted growing up with eight siblings and caddying at Clovernook Country Club to help with family expenses.

He expressed surprise at reaching this milestone: "I never imagined I’d be standing here, celebrating 50 consecutive years in the Circle of Excellence. But I will tell you—it was my career goal!"

Canning emphasized that his achievement is shared with many: "This accomplishment is not just mine; it’s a reflection of the people who supported me along the way—my family, my clients, my colleagues."

He acknowledged his wife Sharon's role in his journey: "It has been my honor and privilege to be married to Sharon Canning for 51 years... She’s my rock, inspiration, and motivator!"

Canning also thanked his daughter Julie for her partnership in business and mentioned Amy's support on weekends. He humorously noted team member Christian Salazar's multilingual abilities but difficulty reading cursive thank-you notes.

Reflecting on his mother's influence, he said she encouraged him and his brother Ron into real estate careers. Ron recently retired after serving as National President of the CRS Council.

Gratitude extended to colleagues: "A big thank you to the Comey & Shepherd Wolfer family... I've been associated with this wonderful group for 33 years!"

Finally, Canning credited divine guidance: "Most importantly, I want to thank God... for protecting me throughout the years."

His story serves as an inspiration within the real estate community.
